BOOK 11: DEATH AND THE CORNISH FIDDLER
In the spring of 1765, Rawlings and his daughter travel to Cornwall to see the Helstone Floral Dance — but death follows them there. While investigating the suspected murders of a child and a courtesan, Rawlings crosses paths with a coven of witches and a mysterious musician.
BOOK 12: DEATH IN HELLFIRE
In order to investigate the scandalous Hellfire Club, Rawlings assumes an aristocrat’s disguise. He fools Sir Francis and gains an invite to headquarters, where things take a dark turn. As the club’s members start dropping like flies, Rawlings considers abandoning his cover. After all, not everyone is quite so fooled as Sir Francis.
BOOK 13: DEATH AND THE BLACK PYRAMID
Summoned by his mistress, Rawlings boards a stagecoach to Exeter. His fellow passengers include a dancer, a German governess, and a bare-knuckle fighter known as ‘Black Pyramid’. Before the journey's end, a man is brutally murdered, and the whole motley crew is drawn into a complex and dangerous intrigue.

When Rawlings learns that Lady Sidmouth's daughter is to marry an Earl fifty-two years her senior, he’s certain that no good can come of the match. The Earl has a cruel reputation, and as the wedding day approaches, John feels increasingly uneasy. He is especially mindful of his daughter’s recent visions, which prophesy harm at the hands of an old woman.

John Rawlings is intrigued by his latest to investigate a man claiming to be the long-lost son of a wealthy Bristol merchant. Accompanied by his eccentric father, he takes a trip to the healing waters of Hotwell, where they mingle with the crème de la crème of Bristol society. But to solve the mystery, Rawlings will need to find its sordid underbelly.

1773. After a long, perilous journey, Rawlings arrives in Boston to find it riven with tension. The resentment surrounding British rule erupts into rebellion during the Boston Tea Party. Someone takes advantage of the chaos to murder a man whom Rawlings recognises as a fellow traveller. And before long, he begins to feel like a pawn in an altogether bigger game.

John Rawlings returns to London, and with the money from his carbonated water company, buys a house on the banks of the River Thames. One morning, a small child is rescued from the river claiming she was pushed. Then John saves a woman from a similarly dismal fate. Could the two incidents possibly be connected?”
