When homicide Detective Charlie Pike is sent to Northern Ontario to assist the OPP in a search for the bodies of two Ojibway boys murdered by a farmer in the 1970s near his own reserve, he’s apprehensive. The CBC is following the story, and the pressure is on to find the remains.
The complainant has a recovered memory, and Charlie’s not sure how reliable it is. There’s nothing at all to corroborate her allegations, and her witness statements keep changing.
Bill Wabigoon, the chief of the Manomin Bay First Nation, has high expectations for what Charlie can achieve. But Bill and Charlie have a history—and Charlie knows Bill well enough to know he’s holding something back.
But when a man’s body is discovered inside a burning truck not far from the reserve, and Bill becomes the main suspect in his murder, Charlie quickly discovers he can’t trust anyone except the victim’s injured dog.”
