“Book Descriptions: Following the righteous path and the directives of the elders in our community is all I’ve ever known, so being “saved” from it—taken away from the only home I can remember, right along with all my “brothers” and “sisters” during a raid that I don’t understand until long after it’s over—should have been terrifying.
But it’s not. Because the earthly world outside our community isn’t anything like we were told. It doesn’t seem corrupt to me, or sinful, or full of distractions that might lead us astray.
Well, maybe that last one is true. But those distractions?
They’re wonderful.
Especially the ones that my brother—my twin brother, my brother by blood, not just a brother because the elders dictated that that’s what we all were to each other. Anyway, the distractions that my twin brother and I discover when we’re given a new home to share and a bed big enough to fit both of us?
Those distractions are well worth leaving the righteous path to enjoy.
In fact, those “distractions” have shown me a whole new path. One that’s not righteous at all, but sensual and decadent and, I hope, forever.
Because the only path I ever want to be on now, the only forever I want, is the one where my brother gets to stay by my side. And where there are no longer any elders around to tell us he’s not allowed to touch me…”
