The Pirate Queen is a standalone novella in the Whatever It Takes series, a steamy fantasy romance set in a fictional medieval world. It follows the story of a side character from book 2 - Clara’s brother Nicolas, and a free-spirited pirate captain Celeste. The book takes place between books 2 and 3, but it’s best read after book 3 as it contains small spoilers for book 3. This book ends with HFN (happy for now), with a HEA (happily ever after) in book 4 of the series, Witches of Silvershire.
