In the midst of trying to be a good friend, dealing with some unpleasant girls in her cabin, and doing her best to get something spiritual out of the week for herself, Amber faces many unexpected moments, including some encounters with a cute guy. Some make her laugh, some make her cry, and some leave her feeling completely dazed. Will she end the week with heartbreak, or with a smile on her face and hope in her heart?
This story was inspired by my own camp adventures, both as a camper and from my summers of being on staff at a Christian youth camp. I met my husband there and we have been involved in youth ministry over the years. I see Amber as an ordinary girl who loves God, cares about her friends, and is eager to discover the wonderful plans in store for the future. This series is based on some verses in the Bible about seeking God and resting secure in His love. "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord. "Plans to prosper you and not to harm you.
